Join the Movement: How You Can Volunteer This Weekend

January 7, 2026

Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your weekend? The Toyin Bawale Foundation is calling on all change-makers! This Saturday, we are heading to the North-Bank IDP camp for our Monthly Outreach and Wellness Check. This is more than just a charity event; it is an act of solidarity with our brothers and sisters in need.

The Reality on the Ground

Currently, the North-Bank camp houses over 1,500 individuals displaced by recent flooding. While basic shelter has been provided, the residents lack consistent access to hygiene products, nutritious food, and emotional support. Our foundation aims to provide a "Day of Dignity" where we provide both material aid and human connection.

Our Strategic Volunteer Teams

Our goal is to provide immediate relief and long-term hope. As a volunteer, you will be assigned to one of our specialized teams based on your skills and interests:

Logistics and Distribution: This team handles the sorting and orderly distribution of food baskets, clothing, and feminine hygiene kits. Precision and empathy are key here.

The Medical Wing: (Doctors, Nurses, and Students) Assisting with basic health screenings, blood pressure checks, and distributing essential over-the-counter medications.

The Children's Corner: Organizing games, storytelling sessions, and basic art therapy for the children in the camp. This is vital for helping kids process the trauma of displacement.

Counselling and Support: Providing a listening ear to the elderly and those who have lost their homes, ensuring they feel heard and valued.

Why Your Presence Matters More Than Your Money

While donations are vital for buying the supplies we distribute, your physical presence provides something money cannot buy: human dignity. Many individuals in these camps feel forgotten by society. A smile, a shared conversation, or simply the act of handing a meal directly to someone restores a sense of belonging. We don't just "drop off" items; we spend the day with the people.

Logistics for Volunteers

We want to make your experience as smooth as possible. Here is what you need to know:

Transport: A foundation bus leaves our head office at 7:30 AM sharp.

Provisions: Lunch and clean drinking water will be provided for all volunteers.

Dress Code: Wear comfortable shoes, jeans, and your Foundation T-shirt (available for pick-up at the office).
